For several seasons, two pairs of Whoopers have made Lowndes County, Georgia their wintering site of choice.
For the fifth consecutive year, #7-07 and his gal pal D39-07* enjoy the ‘luxury amenities’ offered there, as does D38-08* the mate of 3-07 who ‘went missing’ mid December 2012. There has been no sign of 3-07 and his mortality is suspected. (D=Direct Autumn Release crane)
Now in her third year wintering here, #38-08 has been observed alone, but with some regularity she visits with the 2007 pair as evidenced by these photos sent to us by their “Winter Momma”, SB.
