MIGRATION CLOCK RUNNING FASTER – Entry 1

Dateline Kansas: Officials at Quivira NWR report that thousands of Sandhill cranes, geese and ducks have already made their appearance on their journey back north. In fact, although the sighting remains unconfirmed, six adult Whooping cranes, whose typical arrival date is mid-March, were also reported as being northwest of Quivira’s Big Salt Marsh.

    Just saw flocks and flocks of Canadian “Honkers” returning to our area (Beaverton, OR) this afternoon (2PM) as I was going into the dentist’s office. What a great site they always are here!

    Sure sign that Spring is close! Not much else in Toronto these days to remind us. Good thing that those beautiful ‘snowbirds’ know more than us.
