Update on Wild Hatched Whooping Crane and Nesting news

ICF Tracking Field Manager Eva Szyszkoski reports that the wild hatched chick (W1-13) belonging to crane parents 5-10* & 28-08 continues to do well. He/she was last spotted by Eva during an aerial survey on June 4 – the same day the chick turned two weeks of age.

Eva also reports that there were three active nests belonging to the following pairs: (* indicates female)

24-09/42-09* with a renest (2 eggs) – unfortunately this nest failed sometime after the survey flight on June 4 and the flight yesterday, June 5. Eva reports both cranes were off the nest and there was no sign of either egg.
