Last summer when the Class of 2013 Whooping crane chicks arrived at White River Marsh training area, we received a call from producer Caroline Gottlieb, a Wisconsin native who works at NBC. Caroline was interested in featuring a news story about the Whooping Crane Eastern Partnership and the work the partners are doing to return a migratory flock of the endangered cranes to eastern North America.

In late September, Caroline, news correspondent Erica Hill, and a film crew came to visit us at the training site and interviewed Joe Duff about the aircraft-led method, and Marianne Wellington from the International Crane Foundation about the Direct Autumn Release (DAR) method.

The news story will be airing tomorrow evening (January 11th) on the NBC Nightly News cast at 6:30 pm eastern.

ICF's Marianne Wellington tells NBC's Erica Hill about the Direct Autumn Release reintroduction method.
