Yesterday’s Record Setting Session

Watch the video to see just how well this year’s young Whooping cranes are doing!

They flew for well over half and hour yesterday and they flew high – higher than they’ve ever flown before… No doubt about it, this cohort is ready to migrate and the target departure date has been set for September 20th.

This means that the entire team will be on site and the young cranes will be ready. All we need is for the weather to cooperate…

AND we’re thrilled to report that the recent MileMaker challenge has been met thanks to your generosity as well as that of the anonymous Illinois Craniac that matched each and every contribution, which resulted in 40 miles! WHOOP!

Very, very exciting times as the colts are flying higher and looking stronger!! I am quite interested in their take off on 9/20 and praying for good weather. God Speed.

Could have started the training footage at the 2 hr. mark and some of the focus is off, but still glad to see it. Our Whoopers (and pilot) could use a little strobe light on them when they get into the fig (fog).
🙂 Only 14 days to departure! Yay!

What an absolutely thrilling report! I have seen (on Facebook) the rear view of Colleen’s overpacked vehicle ready to depart for the North, so I know things are indeed getting serious! May the weather be just right here on out. We in Wisconsin will do our best to cooperate!
