WCEP Meetings

The Whooping Crane Eastern Partnership was founded in 1999 by nine organizations. Now, 19 years later, the partnership has grown to include many more institutions and groups representing States and Provinces from two countries.

Most have gathered to meet face-to-face this week at ICF headquarters in Baraboo, WI to discuss our 2017 field work season and our upcoming 2018 season.

Just to give you some idea of the number of people involved in a reintroduction involving an endangered species…

I am so glad so many people gather and care about keeping our whooping cranes. It’s a success story from 15 in the wild in 1941 to more than 600 now. Your dedicated work has paid off. I continue to tell your story for children to become caring adults in my book, Wakanda Whooper: The Curious Cinnamon Crane. I continue to go to schools and libraries and tell your story because all of you are incredible. THANK YOU.
