Whooping Crane 28-17 Surfaces! Jan.24,2018 Well well, look who finally turned up! It’s young parent-reared whooping crane #28-17 – the only whooper released this year that did not receive a remote tracking device. He was released in Marquette County, WI on 18 September along with #26-17. The next day, he disappeared and wasn’t spotted again until November when he turned up in Walworth County, WI. He was recently spotted in south Florida – Okeechobee county, and fairly close to two other Whoopers: 16-12 and 72-17. Hopefully, the three will eventually encounter each other!
