This photo clearly shows the differences between Whooping cranes and their non-endangered Sandhill crane cousins.

One of the yearlings glides effortlessly over East Rynearson pond on its eight-foot wingspan before setting down to join its flockmates.

Company drops in - Returned yearling cranes 211 & 212 observe the new chicks from a safe distance. They have visited often and don't seem to be a threat to the new birds but when they get too curious, handlers keep the older cranes occupied behind the crane enclosure so that pilots can continue working with the newer cranes.
