September 20th & 21st, 2003 - Crane Festival

Many thanks and sincere appreciation goes out to the Necedah Lions Club and the numerous volunteers who organized and carried out this great event!
Those that attended the 3rd annual Necedah Crane Festival were treated to one of the best early morning training flights this season when all sixteen youngsters that comprise this years class flew with the aircraft for 30-minutes.

The birds seem to have sorted out their flight structure earlier in the season when compared with the '02 flock.

With their almost 8-foot wing spans they glide only inches from each other...

Following a short distance behind the main group was the male crane 101. The wild adults and yearlings remain curious about the training activity and at times join in on flights.

Three juveniles glide on the "sweet-spot" created as the wing of the aircraft ploughs through the air, creating vortices on which they surf.
