Day Nineteen - November 3, 2003

Morgan County, IN - Exercise Session

I guess despite its appearance this was not the proverbial cloud with a silver lining...
Three stragglers were working hard to catch up to Richard so Brooke moves in and prepares to give them some assistance with the wing of his aircraft.
It's very difficult to capture all sixteen young cranes in one shot but this morning - success!

Richard guides the cranes back to the field they had lifted off from 15-minutes earlier.

They circled the field a couple times, dumping altitude before landing beside Mark Nipper and Charlie Schaffer, positioned outside the enclosure, and broadcasting their "crane music." (contact calls)

This shot gives you an idea of their impressive wingspans.
