Day Fourteen - Oct. 29, 2003

Benton County, IN to Boone County, IN

Richard's trike was the last to go into the barn at our Benton Co., IN stopover so he was elected as the one to go up this morning and test out conditions. Here, he gets suited up in his crane costume, which is designed, not to make him look like a crane (though he does have the legs for it) but rather, to disguise the fact that he is a human.
Once back on the ground, Richard reports the air conditions to Sara and Heather, as Joe gets buckled into his trike seat in the background.
Leaving Benton County, IN and heading south...

The cranes form an impressive line off Joe's left wingtip. Joe says he noticed all the birds kept glancing up at something and assumed it was Paula, circling overhead, however, it turned out to be a commercial aircraft, high above the tiny ultralights and cranes. See the third bird from the bottom keeping an eye on it?
