Photo: Richard Urbanek - ICF - USFWS

On June 2nd the male crane #307 returned to the North Training Site at the Necedah NWR after eluding crane trackers since April 16th. In the above photo, #307 is foraging alongside crane #311. These two yearling males were raised and conditioned within the same cohort (2) last summer, and both are members of the group of eight birds that departed their winter pen site on April 7th to begin the. Unfortunately, the group was separated by poor weather two days after leaving the Chassahowitzka National Wildlife Refuge in Florida.
