| Following their flight training on August 23rd, cohort one was led from the north site to the east site, and housed adjacent the recently combined cohort two/three, who had arrived there about a half-hour earlier. In the above photo you can see the public observation tower where weather permitting, visitors can view early morning training flights. |

August 24th - First chance to mingle... |

| Windy conditions prevented aircraft flight this morning so Beth, Sara, Heather, Joe & Brooke released the now larger group of sixteen juvenile Whooping cranes for their first opportunity to mingle. |
|
| Some showboated by taking short flights around their new pen site, while others were content to forage with the handlers. |

We can only imagine what was going through the mind of this Red wing blackbird as it observed the strange site moving in its direction. |

| Always ready for flight the youngsters enjoy leaping into the air. |

| Cranes 311 & 318 seemed to be the only two bullying birds, at times challenging others. |
