Refuge - Getting Ready for the Arrival of the First Cohort of Whooping Cranes...
OM Pilot Richard van Heuvelen walks the wet pen section checking
to ensure the top-net is secure.
Brian Clauss from the Patuxent Wildlife Research Center gets the
feed station ready.
The new viewing turret will allow the crane handlers to watch the
training after they have released the young birds and then ducked back
inside the enclosure.
After heavy rains through out the spring and early summer, the
road leading into the North training site is flooded.
Windway Capital's Caravan arrived at noon on June 16th carrying the
first seven Whooping cranes chicks from the Class of 2004.
