2003 Unassisted Spring Migration - Hatch Year '02 cranes make their first return flight north!

On Friday Apr. 4th the group departed their southern Indiana roosting location - they returned 20 minutes later after encountering unsuitable weather for migrating.
Fourteen cranes from '02 and one from the inaugural '01 flock, wait out the weather in "Windiana"
The large group of fifteen Whooping cranes arrived in southern Indiana on April 3rd, 2003. They remain there waiting for suitable weather to arrive so they can continue their journey north.
