MileMaker 2009
Seven states, 1285 miles, and an unknown number of migration days lie between the 2009 Whooping crane chicks fledging ground at Necedah National Wildlife Refuge in Wisconsin, and their wintering grounds in Florida. A record twenty-three chicks are currently being trained at the Necedah National Wildlife Refuge in Wisconsin. Your support and financial commitment will allow us to care for them and to finance their first-ever southward migration beginning in October. Last season you demonstrated incredible generosity despite the current economic picture, and helped to ensure that every single mile was sponsored. While it was looking sketchy toward the end of our journey, everyone rallied, some with very generous challenges, which helped to encourage new and repeat MileMaker's. For this, we thank you, and hope that you will again come forward and help us to reach a fully-funded migration before we even launch it. What a relief that would be for the migration team! To determine the cost of a MileMaker sponsorship, we divide the total migration expenses by the number of miles to be flown. Due to lower fuel costs last season, and the generosity of our migration hosts we're able to lower the cost of each mile this year!
Please become a MileMaker sponsor TODAY and help us to get the 2009 generation of endangered Whooping cranes chicks to Florida! Becoming a MileMaker sponsor is easy - just choose one of the following methods:
Heartfelt thanks for your support - We could not do what we do without YOU!
