The birds surf on the wake generated by wing of our ultralights, but occasionally one will fall off and have to work hard to catch up. (Watch for him about 100 feet below.) In this case the other birds dropped down as well, but as I slowed the aircraft they assumed the preferred position on the wing tip. Once there we all began a slow decent to pick up the other bird.
